English to Chinese Translation Service
Mandarin Chinese is the second most spoken language in the world, with approximately 1. million speakers, most of whom are located in China. Both English and Chinese are widely used globally in many different circles, including government and secular business dealings. But despite being the two most commonly spoken languages on earth, Chinese and English have no historical relationships.
For instance, the Chinese language is highly contextual, so slight changes in characters in written Chinese can alter the meaning of a phrase completely. This can pose some challenges when translating from Chinese to English or from English to Chinese. In other words, you want to avoid machine translation and use experienced Chinese translators instead. Both languages have their subtleties and complexities, and successful English to Chinese translations require the expertise of professional Chinese translation services companies.
Being one of the six official languages of the United Nations and especially one with about 7-13 different regional dialects, the Chinese language requires expertise and a firm grasp of the English language to ensure every translated content retains its essence, original tone, and produces the intended results from the target audience.

Why We Prefer Professional Chinese Translations to Machine Translation
A professional translator understands the intricacies and unique demands of Chinese translations, as well as the differences in the many dialects of the language. Depending on the region where your target market is located, machine translations may not be able to do justice to the texts as much as a certified human translator would. Remember that machine translations use artificial intelligence and translation memory to translate texts.
As a result, the translated version may not be localised for the native speaker.

Traditional Chinese Vs. Simplified Chinese Translations
The government of China recognises two official or distinct variations of the written Chinese, known as traditional and simplified Chinese. There are two distinct versions of written Chinese. The People’s Republic of China instituted these variations sometime in the mid-twentieth century as part of moves to increase the literacy rate. In order words, the original Chinese was simplified for national adoption.
As a result, two versions of written Chinese are used today in official communications. Simplified Chinese characters are different from traditional Chinese characters. Chinese nationals and expatriates can choose which of the two versions to use for communicating with others. The important thing to note is that your choice of which version to use depends on where your target market is located (assuming you’re working on market translations). Simplified Chinese is primarily used in Mainland China, Malaysia, and Singapore. Traditional Chinese, on the other hand, is mostly used in Taiwan and Hong Kong.
However, note that traditional and simplified Chinese refer only to written Chinese, while Wu, Mandarin, and Cantonese refer to dialects of spoken Chinese. Therefore, these dialects, including Mandarin and Cantonese, are typically not used in document translations. Neither can interpretations be done in simplified or traditional Chinese. Instead, official Chinese translations focus on the variations in simplified Chinese characters and traditional Chinese characters
For this reason, professional Chinese translators must understand the difference and how to deliver quality translations. Our Chinese translators are versed in all aspects of Chinese translation services, and working with us guarantees you the best result for your Chinese translation project.

Chinese Varieties and Dialects
The interesting thing about Chinese as that it is not a single language. Although native speakers of the language consider it is a single language, it is more of a mixture or, better still, a family of different native dialects. Linguists generally think that there are between 7 and 13 dialects.
Mandarin is the most widely spoken dialect, with approximately 960 million speakers. Mandarin is based on the Beijing dialect and is most typically spoken in northern and southwestern China. Mandarin is also used as Standard Chinese. It is the official language of China, Taiwan and one of the official languages used in Singapore. Based on official estimations, Mandarin is currently spoken by about 70 percent of Chinese people as a first or second language. It is the main dialect of Chinese spoken in China, and most Chinese translation services are focused on Mandarin translation.
Wu or Shanghainese is the second most spoken main Chinese dialect after Mandarin. It comprises a group of regional dialects spoken in Shanghai, Ningbo, Suzhou, and Wuxi. An estimated 70 million native speakers speak Wu. The third one is Cantonese Chinese, which is spoken by roughly 60 million speakers. This dialect of Chinese is spoken predominantly in southeastern China, otherwise known as the Canton region. A significant number also speak the Cantonese dialect of Chinese expatriates around the world. For translation purposes, you want to keep in mind that these three dialects are mutually unintelligible, as they all have a different lexicon, grammar systems, lexicon, and pronunciations. They, however, share some vocabulary.
